Conservation of wild-biodiversity is a prime concern in today’s world. The level of destruction is such huge that, only governmental initiatives are not enough to regain the situation in its right shape. To fight against this odd, it is important to involve common people in the process, so that the fighting strength multiplied by miles and as common people’s unawareness is one of the major cause for this unwanted situation, their involvement will definitely help to mitigate the further decay of the biodiversity around us. Biodiversity gardening is a process of conservation which involves ex-situ and in-situ measures of conservation simultaneously and can be practiced in any backyard or even in terrace or balcony gardens. It’s mostly gardening with indigenous· plants with a little consideration of other biodiversity readily available in the area. The main objective is to ensure the remains of biodiversity get sustaining strength and at the end it’s get enriched. The result we got in the Butterfly garden at Banabitan, Salt Lake, Kolkata, India, shows exactly the tendency stated above and the overall change in rate of encounter with varied biodiversity components increased by almost 60 % during the period of study.
